I am working on a character sheet and want to compare three possible hair colors without redesigning the face or outfit. The character wears a blue shirt against a muted background, and I want each version to remain readable at a small size. My first options are dark brown, light copper, and silver, chosen because they create noticeably different relationships with the existing colors. I came across this reference while searching for terminology related to a personal color test as a starting point for further reading. I would like the terminology to help with critique, while leaving room for the intentional color exaggeration that illustration often uses. The issue is deciding whether the hair supports the face or distracts from it, especially when the picture is reduced in size. Would you review the versions side by side first, or check their light and dark values before asking classmates for opinions? Please suggest concrete things to look for, so our feedback describes what each version does within this particular composition.
